Cabuya CR is a small, independent guide to Cabuya, the fishing village at the southern tip of Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, and the coast around it. It started in 2016 and was rebuilt from scratch in 2026.
What this site is
Cabuya CR covers one small corner of Costa Rica: the village of Cabuya, Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve next door, and the two roads that lead out of it, north to Montezuma and west to Mal País and Santa Teresa. You'll find guides to the reserve, the island cemetery you can walk to at low tide, the beaches, places to stay and eat, and the practical side of getting here.
How we pick places
We only list places we've checked are open, using their official websites, social pages and recent listings. If we can't confirm a place is still running, we leave it out rather than guess. We don't publish prices because they change too often. Read more in how we check places.
Who we are
Cabuya CR is part of the CRJ Network, a small group of independent travel guides to Costa Rica and beyond. One of the network's owners also owns Anamaya Resort in Montezuma, which is mentioned on this site. Wherever Anamaya appears, we say so.
Corrections
Small villages change quickly. A soda closes, a new cafe opens, a road gets fixed or washed out. If something here is out of date, please tell us and we'll check it and fix it.
